Executive Director: Joseph D. Alaimo
In March 2014, Joseph D. Alaimo, became Executive Director and CEO at the Foundation for School Safety and Security (FFSS&S), and proudly represents its professional management team consisting of retired and current High Ranking Police Officers and Security Professionals that have years of experience.
In this position, Alaimo is in charge of carrying out the FFSS&S’s strategic agenda supporting the needs of schools, colleges and universities in the areas of crisis mitigation and preparedness.
Joseph D. Alaimo is a former Deputy Chief of Police in a major city police department. He is highly decorated and accomplished management professional in the areas of Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, Criminal Law Investigation and Response to School Emergencies. Attended and completed the Homeland Security “Active Shooter Preparedness Workshop”. Areas of expertise include in-depth knowledge and skilled in law enforcement with a strong understanding of law, regulations, ordinances, and operating policies and procedures. More than 30 years of law enforcement with a proven ability to create and direct security and investigative programs.
Joseph graduated Springfield College Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services. Joseph also graduated from Police Management Training at Babson College and Leadership Development Training Lowell, MA. Mr. Alaimo is a United States Navy Veteran and served aboard the USS San Bernardino LST 1189.
Mr. Alaimo remains active with numerous affiliations including the ASIS International global community of 35,000 security professionals represents all aspects of security from business continuity and risk management to insider threats and active shooter incidents to IT security and cybercrime. Founded in 1955, ASIS International is a global community of security practitioners, each of whom has a role in the protection of assets – people, property, and/or information.International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) the Massachusetts Police Association, National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, Founding member of the Concerns of Police Survivors Association, Northern Essex Community College Criminal Justice Advisory Committee and the American Association of Notaries.
